Win XP My Network Places Properties Not Working - The Final Option

I've been experiencing quite a nightmare when "My Network Places" Properties isn't working. It's really a headache if you wanted to enter a specific IP address in the TCP/IP setting. I've tried accessing the "Properties" and the least I could get is a blank "Network Connection" ie. without the "Local Area Connection" thing and other icons eg. "Bluetooth Network Connection" or even the "Dialup Connection" icon.

If you encounter such a problem the first thing is to search the Internet and there are lots and lots of expert out there who could guide you with an easier way to rectify this problem. But if none of them could do any help then I might suggest that three of your DLL files located in your system32\ folder is corrupted.

The DLL files are as follows :-
  1. activeds.dll
  2. adsldpc.dll
  3. msvcrt.dll

I've tried the easy way which is downloading it from certain website that provided DLL files but to my frustration none of them works. So what I did was go to my another computer which has the same version of Windows but with "My Network Places" properties working. I copied all the three files from the other computer (from \Windows\System32\) and replaced it in my problematic computer and voila... my "My Network Places" properties is working again.

If you don't have another computer with a working "My Network Places" properties then you should try extracting it from your Windows XP CD. But if your CD has gone missing then Houston.... you know what my next quote is.... LOL......

Okay ... I still wanna help. You can download it by Clicking This

OK just to inform you that sometime the website which is hosting that file is being reported as being attacked by a malware and you will be access denied. You can contact me through email at muzzafar at yahoo dot com. Just simply ask, I would be very glad to email it to you as an attachment.
